Tutorial 1 – Gimp: Remove Background from Picture w/ Glow-Effects (german, description for english)

Step 2 (0:45): Always keep the original. Duplicate the picture and make the original invisible. Step 3 (0:52): First remove the two windows from the background. Choose a selection tool, draw a frame around the right window. Then fill the selection with the "Bucket Fill Tool". To choose the fill colour, click on the foreground colour in the toolbox, then on the eyedropper and after that, select the colour you want by just clicking on it. As fill type choose the "FG colour fill". Make sure that "fill whole selection" is marked as the affected area. If instead "fill similar colours" is chosen, only similar parts within the selection you click on are filled. Since the right affected area is chosen, a click somewhere inside the selection is enough to give it the new colour. Step 4 (2:00): Now the left window in several steps because of the overlay of the window and the glow-effect. Step 5 (2:22): Zoom the view in.
