Hi,
Thanks for your comment.
If you really want to know how all the tools and filters work, you’re better of reading the manual or a good book about gimp.
That said, check out my playlists for the tools and the tricks. Those should be what you’re looking for.
Also in a specific outcome tutorials there are often new tricks and explanations of how the tools I’m using work.

hello, I like anyone that uses gimp and makes videos on how to do it, because gimp can be trick so many options it blows your mind. I would like to see less of the teaching how to make a specific item out come, and more of a teaching of the different tools, filters, etc.kind of like this gradient tool. and instead of telling us on some videos to select a certain something it would be better if you taught us about the functions each tool can do, and making things to show us examples.

Really, that option is only there if you have python installed? I didn’t know.
If anyone wants to know how to install python on windows there is a guide for it on gimpusers (dot) com. Search for python on that site.

In case my first comment got lost :
If you don’t see the “palette to gradient” option, Python is missing on your PC.

Great entry tut.
Maybe you can post a follow-up on gradients. They seem to be very flexible but tricky to create & use. Some gradients are fixed while others change their color depending on the fc.
Thanks.

weird… I’m using 2.6.8 too.
Just watch the video very closely and try to follow every move I make with my mouse. You must do something differently. I don’t know what else could be going wrong.

I don’t have palette to gradient option either. There is nothing below “Refresh Palettes”. I am using GIMP 2.6.8.

Make sure you click on the palette that you’ve just made in your palette dock. The tiny little preview of it. You might have to activate the palette dock first by clicking on the word palette on top of the dock. Just look carefully where I click in the video.
