This video is only about 640×480 since it was a simple test to see if it would actually work. My other digital paintings are up to 800×600, can’t really go any higher as the tabletPC I have isn’t super-fast

Beautiful
What type resolution are you using in this video?

I don’t have a tablet, but when I was trying to figure out why, it was like when I used the smudging tool so much it did that.
But Thank you! I’ll remember that!

I really like the style of Bob Ross.
Just with Gimp… Not bad result. Maybe I give it a try too. And now I watch your other videos

It’s probably because you weren’t leaning heavily enough on the tablet, it’s applied the paint very watery looking. Either that or the opacity slider on the layer/paintbrush is down low.
Good luck!

It’s just one layer. I was trying to make it a true to real painting as possible.
July 15th, 2009 - 06:30
this is amazing! keep up the great work
btw, did you use many layers, or just one?
July 15th, 2009 - 06:30
I made a picture similiar to this, and used the same technique, but when I fifshed you could see the checkerboard background throught the paint through the water. Is that just because I didn’t use alot of layers of paint before I smeared or what?

Beautiful!! gonna do it someday… hopefully =]

the best painter is, who is inspiring others to paint. Since i just downloaded paintbook on my iphone touch, this video gives me nice inspiration. great, thanks.

For the mountain silhouette, I just used any old vertical (or near vertical) brush. For the snow on the mountains, it’s just any small-ish brush to do some dibs and dabs which then get smeared.

where did you get ur brushes for mountains???thanks
July 15th, 2009 - 06:30
no no, used a tablet PC with pressure sensitive screen.

Fast and simple. Great skills on the smear tool.

Very good! For 8 minutes, extremely good! Please check out my vids, about 3 years ago I started messing around with digital painting, trying to recreate Bob Ross type scenes with my own style, you might find my Landscapes by Twinket II video interesting, I also have a few tutorials @ deviant art, link on my profile. Keep up the good work, and happy painting!

woohoo R.T. are my initials too
well done . very nicely done. 5/5
July 15th, 2009 - 06:30
I got the brushes thanks for pointing them out
what ones do you like the best?
July 15th, 2009 - 06:30
For the clouds I used a more rounded brush (from the set I use) same for when I’m smearing the clouds. For the mountains I use a more thin and vertical brush, to let me get a nice point to the mountain tops.

I think you’d be surprised how many people know Bob Ross. Any video I put up on YouTube with ‘Bob Ross’ in the title always gets plenty of views.
July 15th, 2009 - 06:30
What Kind of Brush did you use for the clouds and the mountains??
July 15th, 2009 - 06:30
not many artists, much less people know who bob ross is. so whether you maintain low view counts or ratings, it does not determine the quality of this video. good job sir.
